| Our Mission:
The Salvation Army After School Program is dedicated to helping area children with their academic and social skills. Our goal is to provide a positive, Christian environment and to encourage children to do their best.
Services are provided for children entering kindergarten through 6th grade (ages 6-12) currently enrolled in Tupelo Public Schools.
The Salvation Army After School program strives to provide a positive after school experience for children. There are three major components in the program: a computer based reading and math section, tutorial/homework assistance, and supervised recreation. Transportation is provided from each elementary school to the After School Program. A nutritious snack is served each afternoon. After snack, students move to our computer lab or to the tutorial homework room. Each student is assessed and placed in a computer generated reading or math lab according to his or her need. During this time, each student is monitored by a certified teacher who works with the student to assure that the student understands the material. In the tutorial/homework room, certified teachers work with students to assist in completing homework assignments or giving extra help according to need. When students complete the computer lab and tutorial/homework assignments for the day, they participate in supervised play in the gym. The After School Program follows the Tupelo Public School System calendar. The fee for the program is $25.00 per week. Parents interested in our program may schedule a tour of the facilities or call for more information.
